In past units, you explored the English Vocabulary Profile (EVP) Online Website, which is a valuable tool to ensure that your students can handle a wide lexical range covering vocabulary from A1 to B2.
As shown in the picture below, the EVP allows you to focus on a specific topic.
For this example, we will focus on the topic shopping.
- First, make sure you select level B2 and all the prior levels.
- Next, choose the topic you want to explore.
- If you are only interested in specific parts of speech, you can filter them.
- For this example, we will not apply any part-of-speech filter.

Task: Expanding Your Shopping Vocabulary
- Open the English Vocabulary Profile (EVP) Online.
- Select level B2 (and include the previous levels if you wish).
- Choose the topic “Shopping.”
- From the list of words:
- Classify them in a spidergram (mind map).
- Organize them into categories.
- If there is any word you don’t know, check the meaning in the Details column.
- Make sure you understand all the words.
Be ready to share your spidergram with the class and explain how you organized your words.
